I. Have had Goodreads app for a while. Keeps track of books I want to read, have read, and currently reading. On current reading list I can even input the page I am in. I really like the app. I can also review and rate the books but however I still haven’t really done reviews. My skills are not good at all. I will slowly start learning to review items. Anyways, this is not specific about the app. Goodreads has a reading challenge. You input the number of books you want to read for the year and keeps track as you input what you have read. I love this feature. Last year I put 12 I believe and I went passed it. This year I decided to put 24. I am currently at 18 and it’s September already. Just to let you know, I am just beginning to read. I never really did it. Always was interested, seeing my sister always reading, however it always was hard for me to get in mood to get started. Finally I did, and I enjoy it a lot now. The challenge for me is any type of books this includes manga and comic books/ graphic novels. Any reading is reading. Everyone has different liking and I like everything lol. I will try and keep posting about my reading challenge maybe some of you can join in on the fun. Have to decide how many I want to read in 2017!
The Ancient Magus Bride Vol. 1
First off I got this on sale from Amazon, it was blind buy since I did not know anything about it besides it was cheap at the moment. I ended up getting this with 2 other ones for me and a copy of a series my friend wanted for his birthday. We’ll discuss those later. So this series is about a human girl that has supernatural powers that can see things mostly all of us can’t see. She was auction off to this Magus (magician/sorcerer), he will be making her his apprentice and bride. The series is very interesting it is in my genre of fantasy/supernatural. I must say I really liked this volume that as soon as I finished it I went on Amazon and purchased Vol. 2 however I have not started yet because I am Currently reading another book. This series has magic, fairies, dragons, etc. One thing i really loved about it was it had different things to learn from different meanings. Not meaning, what is it.. hmmm… I just blanked out. But you know what I mean. One of my favorite one was do not fear death, enjoy your life appreciate it, do things you want to do. When the time comes you want have regrets because you did what you wanted to do. Another one I liked that happens is saying that blood doesn’t mean they are family or that they will treat you good. Someone who isn’t blood can also be family and treat you well, sometimes if you don’t have a great relationship with your blood family you can make a family with those people who love you and are there for you. The ending of this book leaves you in the middle of something about to happen which sucks, so as soon as I finish the current book I am reading I am going to read Vol. 2 of this one. They only have 2 volumes out at the moment, its new in the states. Look it up, if it interested you by the description then I really recommend this one. Enjoy! If you have read this volume or will read it let me know what you thought about it! Until next time..
0/6 or Zero/Six
I found this series at a used bookstore I go to. I was excited to find 5 volumes which turned out to be the complete series. This series is about a high school guy I believe it was very skinny guy that gets beat up a lot. He gets a package one day turning out to be a women, it was from his father. It is an A.I. and was sent to him to protect him and do everything he wanted. The story of course has its perv moments. There is no nudity and it there is a few pages then it is censored as you all know from manga the white censor. Well I say manga but I was wrong it turned out to be a Manhwa this is different because it is not from Japan I believe this series is Korean so of course it is named different. This was the first time I read a Manhwa let alone a Manga, I was excited it was a manga but then I was wrong haha. To me the first volume didn’t have much dialog, I was not away if this was a normal thing or what since it was my first time reading a foreign comic book. As the story progresses and the volumes more dialog happen. The series starts slow but towards the end of the first volume it left me with curiosity about whats next. As the story advances there it gets better more action more exciting. Kept me wanting to find out more. It is not an amazing series but it was quiet entertaining. The finale was a bit surprising with what happen with father. If you find this series for cheap, pick it up its not a bad read. Well it wasn’t for me, everyone likes different things and I respect that. There is only 5 volumes so not that bad. If you have read it or end up reading it let me know what you think about it.
Lately I have been reading more, here is a list of things I have read with a small little thought about each one or series.
The Walking Dead V. 9-17
Lets start with The Walking Dead V. 9 -17. My friend let me borrow this series and let me tell you every volume is a nail biter, some more than others of course. I will keep this short because I do not want to give away to many spoilers. This all takes places mostly in the part where they enter the town in which if you are watching the show they just got the at the end of last season. There is a lot of conflict inside, up to this day I still am surprised that we should fear the living more than the dead. Well anyways a lot of deaths happen here and there, some to characters I did not want to die because of course I got used to them. There is one death that made me actually scream out loud “Nooo!” For those of you who have read it probably know which death I am talking about. Weapon of choice a bat. This really got to me. I read this a few weeks ago up to this day it still hit me. Yeah eventually they will probably all die however, why they have to kill this person off such a way. This part of the story I forgot if it was volume 16 or 17 but wow I think it’s the only part that has had an impact with me. Not even when the other person got shot in the eye got me this bad. Although that is another “nooo” moment but not a out loud one. If you are a fan of the show and have not read the Graphic Novel I really recommend you pick it up and read it. If you are worried about the prices since there is quite a few volumes out already. Get the big book with several volumes or go to your nearest used bookstore i’m pretty sure get got some there. I will start buying my own copies soon. Most likely will be by helping out my local used bookstore. Help your local small business. Well other than those 2 parts there isn’t much besides the constant drama between people. Rick does hook up with two women, not bad for a one hand man haha… Well I guess that is it. More than a review this was just something to let out since not a lot of friend I have at moment read that much. (going to make new friends now, hahaha)
I went to Illiads bookstore today. I love that place! I was in the manga section and I found me one, I messaged my friend if it seemed good. He looked it up and he said go for if it was cheap. So I went for it, they have 5 volumes I got them all. I forgot to mention it’s the best bookstore I been to. So I’m excited about my firsts Manga in my what will become a collection.
I am not a reader so along my movie challenge I will be doing a reading challenge for a year.
12 books in a year. Any type of books.
Wish me luck! If you have any recommendations let me know!
